The Cosmic Orbiting Oracles (or CO^2s) are a team of middle school students from Glendale, CA. They attend Eleanor J. Toll Middle School and are in the year-long Introduction to STEM Technology elective course. The team members are Michael, Shawnt, Yervand, and Ryan, and they have the help, support, and encouragement of their entire class. The CO^2s have spent an entire year building VEX IQ robots, specifically the Clawbot IQ, to solve robot challenges using a variety of sensors and obstacles. They have learned to program the VEX IQ robots using RobotC and Robot Virtual Worlds (RVW). This semester in our S.T.E.M. class (or as our captain Mrs. Mayer likes to call it "S.T.E.A.M." class), we have been learning all about lunar exploration through NASA's B.E.S.T. (or Beginning Engineering, Science, and Technology curriculum). The CO^2s have had to build a lunar satellite, a balloon rocket to launch their lunar satellite, as well as design a lunar buggy. They have used a variety of engineering design resources, including Tinkercad and Blender. They are so excited to have this opportunity from Google to apply all that they've learned about lunar exploration. Watch out Moon, here come the CO^2s!
